Noteworthy: The Tuscarawas County Health Department maintained all essential public health services while managing its response to the  continued COVID-19 Pandemic. 16,043 total COVID-19 vaccines were administered by TCHD in 2021.  TCHD also administered 3,876 PCR or rapid antigen COVID-19 tests with 1,335 positive results (34% annual positivity rate).

Noteworthy: The Tuscarawas County Health Department maintained all essential public health services while managing its response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The Department was the first COVID-19 testing site in the county to make testing available to anyone, with or without a medical provider's order. 4,314 drive-up COVID-19 tests were conducted between June 1 and December 31. Additionally, the Tuscarawas County Health Department was featured on Ohio Governor Mike DeWine's live afternoon news conference on December 23rd as the Director of Nursing administered some of the first Moderna COVID-19 vaccines in Tuscarawas County to Drs. Jeffrey Cameron and Kevin Miller.

​Noteworthy: The Tuscarawas County Health Department became Nationally Accredited in Spring of 2019. The Tuscarawas County Health Department partnered with the Ohio National Guard, Ohio Department of Health and many local partners to offer a free healthcare weekend (Guardcare) that served over 300 individuals. The Alcohol and Addiction Program was discontinued in the Fall of 2019 due to staffing shortages and financial deficits.

​Noteworthy: Completed the submission of all documents and site visit requirement for the National Accreditation Process. TCHD anxiously awaits the decision from the Public Health Accreditation Board on their accreditation status. This announcement is expected in mid-2019. Per State law, all Ohio Health Departments must submit an application for Accreditation by July 1, 2018 and become Accredited by July 1, 2020.
