Animal Bite Investigations

Ohio Law (OAC 3701-3-28) mandates that any bites from dogs, cats, or other mammals must be reported to the local health district where the incident took place.

This report can be submitted by the individual who was bitten, a healthcare professional, or a veterinarian who is aware of the situation.

Please ensure that the report is made within 24 hours of the incident to the Tuscarawas County Health Department.

Owners are required to keep the animal confined for 10 days starting from the date of the bite.

A rabies vaccination certificate is necessary for dogs, cats, and ferrets.
